Meet the Wines of Alsace Guru & Taste A Showcase Selection of Alsace
Following a Wines of Alsace Sommelier Masterclass which took place during the day we had a the unique opportunity to taste what was selected as a showcase wine selection for sommeliers. Everyone also had the chance to meet Foulques Aulagnon - the guru from Alsace who represents and promotes Wines of Alsace worldwide. It was a great evening with some extremely special wines.
A Taste of The Lebanon - Monday 22 January 2018
This sell out workshop turned out to be a fascinating history, geology and cultural experience as well as a superb wine tasting. Festive Wine Workshop - 6 December 2017
Bearing in mind many people are looking to cater for larger numbers at this time of year but would still like to enjoy good wine it was time to look at the offers available in and around Edinburgh. We had a great tasting of some wines offering great value for money and they were all well received.
Interesting Italy - 6 November 2017
Tobai Salvai from Bacco Wines came to co-present this popular workshop. It was a fun evening tasting some of the more unusual wines and indigenous varieties that are becoming more popular.
Napa Valley Wine Evening - 28 November 2017
Having recently returned from a spoiling trip to Napa Valley we held this very popular wine evening at Le Di-Vin. It was a walk around tasting of 15 interesting wines which I'd hand selected following trip and we were also treated to some older vintages of some of the wines to see how they age. .
Alsace Wine Workshop - 18 September 2017
An insightful tasting looking at some of the history of Alsace and how the styles tend to be down to whether the producer is Catholic or Protestant. We started with a superb Crèmant, then compared some AOC wines with Grand Crus and finished off with a great dessert wine. Alsace won everyone over and we were left in no doubt as to why Alsace keeps 75% of the wines produced for themselves.
New Zealand Wine Workshop - 5 June 2017
Travelling from the North Island to the South Island we looked at the history and the diversity of this much-loved wine producing country and the fact that it's not all about Sauvignon Blanc - although there are some great ones!
New Zealand Wine Evening at Le Di-Vin - 26 June 2017
June was New Zealand Wine Month, following the workshop we had a very enjoyable evening at Le Di-Vin tasting a host of wines which had been shown to the trade earlier in the day.
Napa Valley - 1 May 2017
With its diverse geology, soils and climate, Napa Valley produces a variety of consistently good quality wines, many of which are relatively unknown. The wines at this workshop demonstrated the diversity of this world famous Californian valley. We tasted some favourites as well as some not currently available in the UK. They were all from family owned Napa wineries with an interesting story to tell. N
The Wines of Burgundy - 6 February 2017
We had a hugely entertaining and informative evening with Amanda Skinner who came to share some extremely interesting wines and her extensive knowledge on the history and happenings of Burgundy. We travelled from Chablis to Pouilly Fuisse taking in the stories of many winemaking families as well as learning about those who have converted to biodynamic viticulture and viniculture.
Independent vs Supermarket - 16 January 2017
A fun and competitive evening was had by all when Diana Thompson joined by Tom Sillar put similar wines from the independent head to head with wines from supermarkets. Thankfully for the indie market the independents were the outright winners.

Festive Wines & Cheese Pairing - 24 November 2016
We all had a very enjoyable evening on with Le Saint Tropez Rosé Company's Eddie McGee who generously brought out wine after wine taking us on a whistle stop tour of the wine regions of Southern France.
Liz Gibbon from Edinburgh Cheese shared some excellent cheeses which we paired with some diliberation and interesting debates to some of the wines. The salamis from Ian Mellis were also much enjoyed - especially the Finnochiona.

The Fizz Festival, Edinburgh - Saturday 29 October 2016
Edinburgh was a truely sparkling place to be when The Fizz Festival took place on Saturday 29 October 2016. This was a fantastic opportunity to taste over 75 Champagnes and sparkling wines from all over the world along with masterclasses, a chance to take part in The Consumer Choice Awards Scotland and enjoy fizz and oysters at the awards ceremony in the evening.
