As part of the run-up Fizz Feast on Saturday 19 November at Edinburgh Academy, now in its sixth year, we’re giving you a brief introduction to the fabulous feast and fizz exhibitors lined up to tantalise taste buds and please palates. This year we’re delighted to welcome new exhibitor 'Cap Classsique Association' to the Fizz Hall again. Established in 1992, the Cap Classique Producers Association (CCPA) came about through a group of producers who shared a passion for bottle-fermented sparkling wines made according to the tradition method – Methode Champenoise.

South African sparkling wines made in this traditional French method are called Methode Cap Classiques or Cap Classiques. Grapes are selected from a diversity of regions in the Cape, which results in highly individual styles. We are delighted to welcome the Cap Classique Association to Fizz Feast for the first time and learn as much as possible about these unique South African sparkling wines. There will be a Cap Classique expert on hand on the day to explain the differences between each producer and to help you find something new to sample. We reckon rose fans will adore the light pink colour of Haute Cabrière Pierre Jourdan Belle Rosé, NV, South Africa, while Genevieve Blanc de Blancs 2017, South Africa, is a wonderful Cap Classique for food pairing. Anthonij Rupert L’Ormarins Brut Classique NV, South Africa, is zesty and vivacious, with well-balanced fruit and acidity in a truly elegant sparkling wine. ‘There is so much to explore in the sparkling wines of South Africa,’ Diana Thompson says, ‘I am really delighted to be able to offer Fizz Feast visitors that chance to try something new that they may not have come across before. ‘There are so many wonderful and creative wine producers around the world, this is the perfect place to get to know them!’

Fizz Feast is on Saturday 19 November 2022 at The Edinburgh Academy, 42 Henderson Row, Edinburgh. There are two sessions to choose from: 12-3pm and 4-7pm, and plenty of masterclasses. Tickets start at £25 per person.  Click here to join us
