As part of the run-up to our fourth annual Fizz Feast on Saturday 16 November at Edinburgh Academy, we’re giving you a brief introduction to the fabulous food and fizz exhibitors lined up to tantalise taste buds and please palates.

Its distinctive dark packaging means today’s Fizz Feast Taster, Champagne Lanson, is instantly recognisable. The colour black, being the symbol of elegance, was a natural choice for this Champagne dominated by the Pinot Noir grape.

One of the oldest holders of the Royal Warrant, Lanson is a family-run House and has been producing some of the world’s finest Champagne since 1760, when it was founded by a magistrate, François Delamotte. A vineyard owner, he decided to found his own Champagne House – one of the first to exist. He was succeeded by his son Nicholas-Louis in 1798, who went on to form a partnership with Jean-Baptiste Lanson.

The House of Lanson has been the official supplier of Champagne to the British courts since 1900, when Henri Marie Lanson was awarded the tile of ‘Purveyor of Champagne to Her Majesty’ by Queen Victoria. The Champagne House remains a purveyor of Champagne to the British Royal Family today, displaying the coat of arms of Elizabeth II on its bottles.

Since there are so many different styles of Champagne, Lanson has produced a fascinating Champagne Taste Map.

Created by experts this highlights what you can expect from all the different styles and some of the most well known Champagnes including Lanson. From everyday aperitifs to rare vintages, Lanson's portfolio includes Champagne Lanson, Besserat de Bellefon, Tsarine, Masse and Gauthier and demonstrates the variety of different tastes and styles created to suit every palate.

Known for its fresh style, layers of flavour and complexity, visitors will be spoilt for choice with Lanson's sparkling selection being shown at Fizz Feast this year.

Fizz Feast is is a true Celebration of Sparkling Wine & Artisan Food on Saturday 16 November 2019 at The Edinburgh Academy, 42 Henderson Row, Edinburgh. There are two sessions to choose from: 12-3pm and 4-7pm, and plenty of masterclasses.
