As part of the run-up Fizz Feast on Saturday 19 November at Edinburgh Academy, now in its sixth year, we’re giving you a brief introduction to the fabulous feast and fizz exhibitors lined up to tantalise taste buds and please palates. One of the best-known names in the world of sparkling wine, we are delighted to welcome Taittinger Champagne back to Fizz Feast. Taittinger is one of the very few Grand Marque Champagne Houses still owned and managed by the family name on the label.

Dating back to 1734, when the original House was founded by Jacques Fourneaux, the Taittinger link was established in 1931 when Pierre Taittinger, the founder of today’s company, acquired the House. Today, Pierre’s great grandchildren Clovis and daughter Vitalie, manage this thriving Champagne House and Taittinger is enjoyed in more than 140 countries around the world. Visitors to Fizz Feast will be able to sample a variety of Taittinger styles, including the wonderful Brut Reserve NV, which is made from 40% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 25% Pinot Meunier using hand harvested grapes from mature vines from more than 35 vineyards for a light, elegant and balanced Champagne. Pink Champagne fans should try the Prestige Rose NV, a vibrant and sophisticated, smooth, full-bodied Champagne with an intense colour. While the Prelude Grande Crus is a harmonious blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir and a maturation of five years in the cellars, for a wonderful celebratory fizz.
