Fizz Feast Taster - Growers Garden Broccoli Crisps

As part of the run-up to our fourth annual Fizz Feast on Saturday 16 November at Edinburgh Academy, we’re giving you a brief introduction to the fabulous food and fizz exhibitors lined up to tantalise taste buds and please palates.So, Broccoli Crisps. From actual, real, fresh broccoli. That can’t be right, we hear you say. But it is. And they are. They are also healthy – vegan-friendly, gluten-free, and made with farm-fresh veg and 100% natural ingredients - delicious snacks that make the perfect accompaniment to a glass or two of fabulous fizz.

The idea for a healthy snack came from an entrepreneurial Fife-based farming community, Growers Garden The Farmers Collective, which, after putting their heads together, decided to use fresh vegetables from their own fields to make great-tasting snacks that would also promote sustainable farming by cutting down on food waste. Much planning and testing followed before broccoli crisps became a reality, using up all of the bits of broccoli that might otherwise have been overlooked or gone unused. Undersized or wonky-shaped fresh broccoli is put to good use,

mixed with other raw ingredients, and transformed into a snack, which cuts down on the usual wastage. The original ‘Naked’ broccoli crisp has since been joined by three equally delicious flavours: Chilli, Sour Cream & Chive, and Cheese. And did we mention they are a low-calorie snack too (less than 100kcal per 22g pack)? We challenge you not to be bowled over by these tasty treats – a whole new world of healthy sustainable snacking awaits.

Fizz Feast is is a true Celebration of Sparkling Wine & Artisan Food on Saturday 16 November 2019 at The Edinburgh Academy, 42 Henderson Row, Edinburgh.
