Fizz Feast Taster - Lidl

As part of the run-up to our fourth annual Fizz Feast on Saturday 16 November at Edinburgh Academy, we’re giving you a brief introduction to the fabulous food and fizz exhibitors lined up to tantalise taste buds and please palates.

Having built a reputation for excellent-value wines that deliver on taste too, we’re delighted to be welcoming Lidl back to Fizz Feast again this year.

Lidl’s reputation for decent, value-for-money wines continues to grow. Fizz Feast gives you the opportunity to be among the first to try sparkling wines from its new Christmas Wine Tour collection.

From sparkling Sauvignon Blanc, to Cava, to easy-drinking Prosecco and Champagne, Lidl covers the full spectrum of sparkling wine. This supermarket always has a fantastic selection of Cava, which is a frequently overlooked and underrated sparkling wine, but one which is perfect for a gathering of friends and family at Christmas.  Also, much welcomed arethe smartly designed labels which don't give a hint of these wines being possible supermarket own labels.  Other perfect party drinks include Cremant de Loire,

NV, from the Loire Valley, which is one of France’s most important sources of good sparkling wine. Made by the same method as Champagne, this is a fresh, well-balanced wine with notes of citrus – ideal for gatherings.

Lidl’s Comte de Senneval Champagne Brut NV at £11.49 is a winner all year round.  Many supermarkets discount their own label Champagne with their name on the label instantly revealing it as an inexpensive Champagne at Christmas time.  However, Comte de Senneval is the same extremely good value for money price all rear round.  With its refreshing  citrus fruit with and hint of brioche characters it's a fabulous Champagne with enough complexity to enable it to stand up to many others at twice this price.  Enjoy it with smoked salmon (or even Tobermory Smoked Trout at Fizz Feast) and white meat canapes.  Whatever your sparkling wine tastes, Lidl will have something to suit.
