Fizz Feast Taster - Pacari Chocolate

As part of the run-up to our fourth annual Fizz Feast on Saturday 16 November at Edinburgh Academy, we’re giving you a brief introduction to the fabulous food and fizz exhibitors lined up to tantalise taste buds and please palates.  Celebrating International Chocolate Week this week we are of course giving you a taster for our fabulous chocolate exhibitor in the Feast Hall - Pacari Chocolate from Ecuador.

  Returning to Fizz Feast for a second year, we guarantee Pacari Chocolate will make you want to savour the flavour of everything from fruit, herb and spice chocolate bars, raw chocolate and fruit-covered chocolate to cacao beans.  Vegan, 100% certified organic, and soy, palm oil, gluten and GMO free, this is chocolate that has ‘good for you’ stamped all over it. Not only is the chocolate worth celebrating, this Ecuadorian Fair-Trade company, which is headquartered in Edinburgh, is recommended as one of the Best Buys by Ethical Consumer Magazine, so it’s a company that puts people first too.

Cacao pods growing

Many producers state their chocolate is made from Bean to Bar, which generally means a country’s cacao beans are exported to the UK, or another non-cacao growing country, and the chocolate is produced there, resulting typically in less than 7% of profits staying in the original country. Pacari is rightly proud to operate a ‘Tree to Bar’ system, meaning the chocolate is produced and packaged in Ecuador, the country where the cacao beans actually grow, which allows more than 50% of the wealth to stay in the country of origin and contribute to its development. Pacari supports local farmers in Ecuador by working with them directly, enabling them to benefit for their produce and hard work.
