As part of the run-up Fizz Feast on Saturday 19 November at Edinburgh Academy, now in its sixth year, we’re giving you a brief introduction to the fabulous feast and fizz exhibitors lined up to tantalise taste buds and please palates.

This year we're delighted to welcome Sardinian Sparkling Wine Producer Sella&Mosca to the Fizz Hall for the first time

Sella&Mosca was founded in Alghero in north western Sardinia by Mr Sella, an engineer, and Mr Mosca, an attorney, in 1899. Since 2016, the winery has been part of the Terra Moretti Group and remains a wine-making leader in Sardinia using new cultivation methods, maintaining a focus on historic native grape varieties, and employing technological innovations. The large wine estate in Alghero is one of the biggest in Europe. The surrounding land is unique, full of history blended with nature for centuries. The Torbato, a Mediterranean white-wine grape is now grown exclusively in northwest Sardinia, which is largely a result of the efforts of Sella&Mosca to revive this once-rare variety.

Distinctive flinty and mineral flavours are present in many varietal Torbato wines. You can try wine from this grape at Fizz Feast with Sella&Mosca’s wonderful Torbato Spumante Brut - Alghero Torbato Spumante DOC – NV. Spumante is a classification of Italian sparkling wine and the Torbato Spumante Brut is a light, delicious aperitif. Bottle fermented, with aromas of acacia, fig, brioche, and lemon, it has a light mouthfeel and a long finish, and works well with both light dishes and heartier plates.

‘This is a wonderful introduction to the wider world of sparkling wine,’ Fizz Feast founder Diana Thompson says, ‘it sums up what Fizz Feast is all about, enjoying quality sparkling wine you may not otherwise come across or have the chance to try for yourself.

‘The idea behind Fizz Feast was always to introduce a wide a range of sparkling wine as possible, and create a space where fizz fans had the chance to try something new and different for them.’ Diana explains. ‘Everyone has different tastes, and there are so many sparkling wine styles, it’s worth experimenting to find something you love!’ Fizz Feast is on Saturday 19 November 2022 at The Edinburgh Academy, 42 Henderson Row, Edinburgh. There are two sessions to choose from: 12-3pm and 4-7pm, and plenty of masterclasses. Tickets start at £25 per person.  Click here to join us
