As part of the run-up to our fourth annual Fizz Feast on Saturday 16 November at Edinburgh Academy, we’re giving you a brief introduction to the fabulous food and fizz exhibitors lined up to tantalise taste buds and please palates.

We're delighted to be welcoming back for the fourth year running Champagne Taittinger, which is one of the few Champagne Houses still owned and actively managed by the family named on the label.

Taittinger’s origins date back to 1734 when the original house was founded by Jacques Fourneaux. The Taittinger link was established in 1931 when Pierre Taittinger, the founder of today’s company, acquired the House. As a young cavalry officer during the First World War Pierre had spent some time in the Champagne region. He was stationed at Château de la Marquetterie and fell in love with this beautiful property and its vineyards, and eventually succeeded in buying it. Today, Pierre’s grandson, Pierre-Emmanuel, with his son Clovis and daughter Vitalie, manage this thriving family Champagne House and Taittinger is enjoyed in more than 140 countries around the world.

Keeping a constant temperature in the cellars is crucial which is why Taittinger's 4 km of chalk cellars, part of which date back to 340AD, and at their deepest are 30 metres underground are ideal for ageing this fabulous Champagne.

The hallmark of Taittinger Champagne is the high percentage of Chardonnay used in the winemaking, which provides an elegant, delicate finish.

Master of Wine Mark O’Bryen will be presenting a fascinating Taittinger Masterclass during each Fizz Feast session, which gives visitors the opportunity to experience a tutored tasting, and to discover the Champagne styles available that particularly suit different foods, moods and occasions. These masterclasses are very popular, so it’s best to book in advance. Remember, when you book your Fizz Masterclass, you will receive a second complimentary Riedel Crystal Champagne flute.

Fizz Feast is is a true Celebration of Sparkling Wine & Artisan Food on Saturday 16 November 2019 at The Edinburgh Academy, 42 Henderson Row, Edinburgh. There are two sessions to choose from: 12-3pm and 4-7pm, and plenty of masterclasses.
