Fizz Feast Taster - The Wine Society

As part of the run-up to our fourth annual Fizz Feast on Saturday 16 November at Edinburgh Academy, we’re giving you a brief introduction to the fabulous food and fizz exhibitors lined up to tantalise taste buds and please palates.

The Wine Society has been loved by many for generations, which is only one reason why we are delighted to welcome this membership-based wine company to Fizz Feast and perhaps introduce who they are and what they offer to a new generation of wine lovers.

Founded in 1874, the Wine Society is the world’s oldest wine club. It was created and still operates as a co-operative, with each member being the owner of one share. The Society continues to be solely owned by its members and sells its wine only to them.

The Wine Society has racked up numerous wine trade industry awards over the years and is currently Decanter Magazine’s Online Retailer of the Year (for the third consecutive year) and the International Wine Challenge Wine Club of the year, so members know they are in safe hands.

With a passion for good wine, fair pricing and ethical grower relationships, you can expect a wonderful range of new and exciting sparkling wines at great prices at Fizz Feast. Look out for The Society’s Cava Reserva Brut NV, which is made by a small family estate in Penedès using traditional cava grapes – parellada, macabeo and xarel-lo – plus a touch of chardonnay. Made using the Champagne method, this is an outstanding Cava with a delicate fruit flavour and mouth-watering finish, which was voted Best Value Cava at the Wines from Spain Awards. Red wine fans should give the Vecchio Moro Lambrusco Grasparossa Rinaldini a go. A classic Italian red fizz, it has a fragrant, dry palate and a refreshing finish - a fantastic aperitif as well as an excellent match for cold meats.

Current members of The Wine Society coming to Fizz Feast will receive 10% discount for orders placed by 5pm on Nov 23, and new members joining will receive a £20 credit towards their first order.  A lovely little treat in advance of Christmas or a perfect present for any wine lover!

There are two sessions to choose from: 12-3pm and 4-7pm, and plenty of masterclasses.
