As part of the run-up to our fourth annual Fizz Feast on Saturday 16 November at Edinburgh Academy, we’re giving you a brief introduction to the fabulous food and fizz exhibitors lined up to tantalise taste buds and please palates.

You don’t get much more artisan or family-focussed than The Tobermory Fish Company, which happily returns to Fizz Feast for a third year. Founded in 1971 by Hugh and Marjorie Goldie, today the award-winning company is run by daughter Rosie and granddaughter Sally, very much keeping things in the family.

Some of the world’s best-tasting fish and shellfish come from the clear waters around the Hebridean Island of Mull. It was here, in the 1780s, that the British Society for Encouraging Fisheries decide to build a port in a wonderful natural harbour.

It is this harbour, Tobermory, that is home to The Tobermory Fish Company. The family firm has been producing the finest fish and seafoods to traditional family recipes for almost five decades and, although times may have changed, tradition is still very much at its heart.

The Tobermory Fish Company puts flavour first and foremost and uses both a long, slow cold smoke and a faster hot smoky roast. Cold smoking is the traditional Scottish way of preserving fish which has been used for generations. It also has the advantage of cutting down on calories, without losing any protein content or flavour.

Fizz Feast is a great opportunity to compare smoked salmon and smoked trout side by side.  The smoked trout has always been hugely popular at Fizz Feast and we recommend you try both the hot and cold-smoked salmon and trout, and discover just what has been making both the Tobermory locals – and a fanbase that now stretches across the world - go back again and again for nearly 50 years.

Sally will be holding a Masterclass during the second session of Fizz Feast at 5.45pm - tickets are only £3 for this and are selling fast.

Fizz Feast is is a true Celebration of Sparkling Wine & Artisan Food on Saturday 16 November 2019 at The Edinburgh Academy, 42 Henderson Row, Edinburgh.

There are two sessions to choose from: 12-3pm and 4-7pm, and plenty of masterclasses.
