Fizz Feast Taster - Waitrose

As part of the run-up Fizz Feast on Saturday 19 November at Edinburgh Academy, now in its sixth year, we’re giving you a brief introduction to the fabulous feast and fizz exhibitors lined up to tantalise taste buds and please palates. 

This year we’re delighted to welcome new exhibitor Waitrose to the Fizz Hall.

Waitrose & Partners is the first UK retailer to have its own vineyard. Leckford Estate, on the Waitrose Farm in Hampshire, is where the grapes are grown and picked for delicious fresh, fruity, sparkling wine. With their first visit to Fizz Feast, we are very much looking forward to exploring this forward-thinking retailer’s sparkling wine selection. Fizz Feast visitors should try the homegrown Leckford Estate Brut, which is a soft blend containing mostly Chardonnay grapes, as well as Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. With aromas of toasted brioche and hazelnuts, and peach and citrus flavours, this is a wonderfully special sparkling wine. Waitrose & Partners will also be showcasing the new John Lewis Prosecco, which is a fantastic fizz for family gatherings and toasting in the New Year. Great-tasting alcohol-free sparkling options are always useful to have to hand, so it’s worth trying the delicious Thomson & Scott Noughty Alcohol-Free Organic Sparkling Wine. There is also a lovely French Cuvée Royale Brut Crémant de Limoux NV to sample, amongst others. ‘With Christmas just around the corner, this is a great time to be thinking about festive drinks and gift buying,’ says Fizz Feast founder Diana Thompson. ‘A Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) qualified drinks specialist from Waitrose & Partners Comely Bank store will be on hand on the day to advise on what types of sparkling wine might work best for what occasion, or to give advice on possible food pairings.

‘For serious Christmas shoppers, gifting teams from John Lewis & Partners Edinburgh, will also be available to answer questions, help with recommendations and offer advice ahead of the festive season, so you can tick a few names off the gift list,’ Diana adds. Fizz Feast is on Saturday 19 November 2022 at The Edinburgh Academy, 42 Henderson Row, Edinburgh. There are two sessions to choose from: 12-3pm and 4-7pm, and plenty of masterclasses.
