Fizz Feast Taster - Woodhouse Wines

As part of the run-up to our fourth annual Fizz Feast on Saturday 16 November at Edinburgh Academy, we’re giving you a brief introduction to the fabulous food and fizz exhibitors lined up to tantalise taste buds and please palates.

When it comes to selecting, recommending, advising on and supplying wine for any occasion, there are few as experienced and as passionate as wine merchant Jonathan Simpkin, who heads up Woodhouse Wines.

Originally started in Woodhouse Eaves, a village located in Leicestershire, more than 30 years ago, Jonathan moved the business to Inverbervie 20 years ago. With clients ranging from the corporate, hotel and restaurant trade to the private sector (Sir Cliff Richard is on that list), Jonathan knows plenty about the finest and crowd pleaser wines around.  A crowd pleaser is just what Jonathan himself is and if you hear raucous laughter at Fizz Feast you can be sure that it's coming from Jonathan's stand.

His Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) qualifications plus 30 years’ experience of wine sampling, as well as much discussion with suppliers and distributors over the decades has created a depth of knowledge and experience few can match. And his joy in all things wine means he loves to share what he has learned, so, don’t be shy, asking for guidance and recommendations is like music to his ears!

If you have always enjoyed a glass of sparkling wine, but ever felt a little frustrated that you didn’t know more or wanted to try something new, this is a great opportunity to be guided by Jonathan who is sure to find something you will love. Jonathan’s passion for wine is infectious and his knowledge means he will always be able to point you in the right direction, whether you want to find a wine for a special occasion, try something new from a grape you know you like, or find something completely different. Fizz Feast is is a true Celebration of Sparkling Wine & Artisan Food on Saturday 16 November 2019 at The Edinburgh Academy, 42 Henderson Row, Edinburgh. There are two sessions to choose from: 12-3pm and 4-7pm, and plenty of masterclasses.
