Lidl Live Tasting Results - The Reds

Following on from tasting the Lidl Whites from the latest Wine Tour last week we had fun tasting the reds on Monday.  Since the latest Wine Tour was launched a few weeks ago and many of the wines had already been whisked off the shelves we decided to just taste two from the latest Wine Tour and others from Lidl's Core Range. Everyone was given the list of the wines we were tasting and chose if they wanted to find all 6 wines or just a few to taste along with us.  Lidl's Lead Taster and Master of Wine Richard Bampfield along with Lidl's Chris Scott joined us for the Zoom tasting.  The three of us presented each of the wines inviting tasters to score them out of 5 and to comment on what they thought.

The outright winner with full marks was the Bolgheri Medici Riccardi from the current Wine Tour.  Despite costing £13.99 it seems to be one of the most popular amongst the range so has sadly been hard to find on Lidl's shelves.  Close behind was the Winemaker's Selection Barossa Valley Shiraz - a great crowd pleaser and a steal at £5.99.  Sadly the Priorat, also from the latest Wine Tour and the Cepa Lebrel Rioja Reserva came in jointly in 5th and 6th places, but still scored a strong average of 3.9 points out of 5.
