On 16 July we Zoomed off to the beautiful Colchagua Valley to visit Viña Caliterra.  Admittedly that evening we could see the rain clouds coming in the distance beyond the vineyard but it was still beautiful.  One of the first wineries in Chile to be certified sustainable, Viña Caliterra focusses on what they do best and what they do naturally. With an extensive range starting around £8.99 they have something to suit all wine enthusiasts and every occasion.

Winemaker Rodrigo Zamorano presented to us theatrically overlooking the vineyard and it really was a superb tasting.

During this evening we were treated to a Sauvignon Blanc bursting with zesty citrus characters and was certainly not a classic "one glass" only Sauvignon Blanc.  We were then surprised by a Malbec (the surprise being that we weren't in Argentina) and then a fabulous Carmenere.  If you've not heard the story of Carmenere then have a look at the recording from the tasting and 42 minutes in Rodrigo tells the story first hand which was fascinating.

If you missed the tasting and would like to see it for yourself you can find it here.  The Password is WINEEVENTSSCOT2020#.  This link will work for a limited time only.  If you view this blog after it has expired and would like to hear it please contact me There is also superb video for Caliterra which isn't very clear on the Zoom video so you might like to see it here
